Don Schulz, B.Sc. – Quality Control Manager
All natural health products for sale in Canada are subject to the Natural Health Product Regulations. The regulations define the requirements for the manufacture, packaging, labeling, storing, importing, distributing, and sale of natural health products in Canada to ensure that all Canadians have access to natural health products that are safe, effective, and of good quality.
The Natural Health Products Directorate issues Site Licenses to qualified companies. Sites must have procedures in place for distribution records and product recalls and for the handling, storage and delivery of their products. They must also demonstrate that they meet Good Manufacturing Practice requirements to ensure product safety and quality.
Our GMP program covers: final product testing for identity, microbiological contaminants, heavy metals and pesticides; product specifications; premises; equipment; personnel; sanitation program; operations; quality assurance; stability; records; lot or batch samples; recall reporting.
The GMPs are designed to ensure safe, high quality products. At Strauss we have successfully demonstrated GMP compliance and the requirements of a Site License.
